Just a brief update on the UN conference. Seems enough countries opposed the proposed regulation changes and it has failed to pass during their closing assembly meetings. Internet freedom advocates will be happy to know that we are once again safe from international laws being applied to the Internet. For now.
Knowing the political process of the UN, we are likely a few years off before the topic of ITR changes will be revisited. But people must remain vigilant. As I stated in my past posts, this conference isn't the only way governments and the United Nations have attempted to put some form of control or regulation onto the internet. And it won't be the last.
